What do cockroaches look like?
An adult American cockroach measures around 1 3/8 to 2 inches long. It is reddish-brown in coloring except for a marginal pale pattern on its shield on the back, just behind the head. It is fully winged and can fly only short distances in the North but are good fliers in the South. Early nymphs are consistenly grayish-brown on top and underneath. Later instar nymphs are reddish-brown. The egg capsule is kidney bean-shaped and is called oothecal. It is brown to black and is usually about 3/8 inch long.
What do cockroaches eat?
Since cockroach can fly and swim, it can eat crap and live almost anywhere it wants but generally it is found near trash or human food. Roach infestation is possible anywhere from houses, apartments, restaurants, hotels, bakeries, grocery stores, food processing plants, hospitals or anywhere else they set their minds to. Cockroach generally produces 4 to 8 egg capsule in its lifetime with each egg capsule containing around 30 to 40 eggs. It takes about 20 to 30 days to hatch. They are carried around much like Bed Bugs inside bags, clothing, and packages.
